 “OH WHAT THE HECK, OPEN THE WINE”

 We’ve all said it haven’t we…
Go on, open the wine, one won’t hurt and I’ve earned it today. 
If it was just one that would be fine yes.  The problem is that saying it on a regular basis can be disastrous for both health and waistlines.  So today I give you tips and real-life stories of what has worked for others just like you at that moment.

A nice glass of wine or a beer can be relaxing.  And in a world full of stress they say it’s good to relax. And it’s true, just the one won’t hurt you.  But if it’s one – or two – or three –  every night or most nights,  then you potentially could run into weight gain, addiction symptoms, and poor sleep patterns.
Your appearance may suffer from too much alcohol – bags under your eyes, tired & dull-looking skin, bloating in the face.
Your waistline may balloon.  Once you drink you may find you have to snack too.  And that’s a double trouble disaster for your weight.   Lots of carbs, plus high sugar alcohol just before sleep.  Wow, your body will rapidly store ALL of that unwanted energy in your waist, hips, bum & arms whilst you sleep.  Tucking it away for you to look at later.
You will likely suffer cravings – for wine, and for other high sugar/fat/salt foods.
That eating/drinking pattern will upset your digestion, maybe resulting in bloating or pain.
And poor sleep will result in you feel extra drained. Your lovely sparkle will be well and truly gone.
Here’s what many of my clients have done.

 Just decide to stop – LOST 4 STONE

 One of my lovely ladies told me that she loved a drink in the evening.  But she couldn’t have a drink without wanting nibbles too. And more nibbles meant more wine  They were feeding off each other.
She tried cutting down.  Didn’t work.
She tried non-alcoholic drinks.  Didn’t work.
She was gaining weight, despite exercising a lot.Just decide to stop - LOST 4 STONE
Then one day it suddenly clicked. She realized that her continual self-sabotage was robbing her of her self-confidence, and stopping her from being who she wanted to be.
That thought was reason enough. She had suddenly learned something about herself.
So she just stopped.
She decided to just knock it all on the head.No more alcohol.  No more nibbles.
End of. And she’s now LOST 4 STONE!

 WHY do you drink?

Understanding WHY you drink is massive.   I always encourage my ladies to learn about themselves and to become very in tune with their physical and emotional needs.

I cannot give you the answers here.  As an intelligent adult only you can know your reasons.

Is it to be sociable – can you not be sociable without drinking alcohol? Is it social pressure – you just cannot say No?   Why is that?

Are you just bored of an evening?

Is it just a very bad habit?

Is it a dependency?   If so, you should seek professional help.

 Substitute

Substitute your alcohol with a healthier drink.  Substitute

Sparkling water with ice & a slice is SO much more refreshing for the body & skin, and it won’t add to your waistline.

Add a tiny dash of pure apple, lemon, or lime juice for variety.

Reduce your alcohol intake.  Go 5-2 with Alcohol.
Have at least 5 days a week alcohol-free.  Chances are that come Day 3, that muzzy head will have cleared and you’ll have had some better sleep.
Reduce alcohol and feel loads better within hours – you may not even want to re-start.
The benefits of this are vast, as it enables the best of both worlds.

It’s well documented that we Brits drink too much, and there’s plenty of help out there to help us.  Many of us drink more than the recommended weekly amounts.  For women this 14 units per week … and that’s a maximum, not a recommendation.
And the UK obesity rate is dreadful at 60% of English women being overweight or obese in 2020.  I would suggest this may be higher in Wales & Scotland.
Consider everything you have to GAIN by simply watching your alcohol intake.
It’s huge.
