I feel like a whale
There’s a lot of positivity out there at the moment, as the UK opens up again.  Despite what we’ve all been through, now we have the vaccines our future is starting to look better. Open your eyes and your heart to this feeling. Here’s how to build on its momentum. It can help you to lose weight and get fitter, even if you do feel like a whale after Lockdown.
Use the daylight.
Every day, go outside, lift your face to the sky.
Take in 5 big, deep breaths – each as slow and as strong as you can.
Listen to your pulse, the beating of your heart.
As you do so feel the energy of the fresh air reaching the very depths of your lungs and flooding your system with energy. It’s like a 15-second meditation.

Look in the mirror – long and hard.
Wait until you stop judging yourself (we all do it).
Then find something about your reflection that you like – your hair, your nose, your ears, your waist, your smile, your legs, your toes.

If that doesn’t work, try seeing your mum, dad, grandparents, brother, sister, or daughter, or son in your reflection.   Our genes are ours alone.  Practice gratitude for anything that these people have given you.

It’s time to listen again.
I’ve avoided the news for weeks as it’s been so depressing and left me with a feeling of helplessness.
We can be thankful for the positive words out there.  We are on the cusp of something very important with the apparent success of our vaccines. This will almost certainly go down in history, and you played a part in that huge change.

Look back.
Consider all the changes you personally made to get you and your family through Lockdown.  It was tough.  If someone had told you this time last year that you could do all that you probably wouldn’t have believed them.
But YOU DID IT!
You got through.
All those changes you made.  It worked.
Now it’s time to believe in yourself.
You are strong.
You’ve shown that you can cope – are resilient.OK, you might say you “feel like a whale” at the moment.   But you’re still here.
The changes you need to make to get rid of that “whale” are nothing in comparison to the changes you’ve made in the last 12 months.

Just start.
