Hows your body ageing?

Its 1971. I’m 10 years old and running down the open-plan 70’s stairs my parents were so proud of.  Somehow, I’d take a leap on the way down, hold on to the edge of the landing above my head, swing my legs forward, skinny little trapeze-artist style, completely missing out the lower 4 steps, landing on 2 feet in the hall.

You’ll remember all you did back then too … handstands, cartwheels, gymnastics, climbing, running, playing  …. and, like I do, know if you did it now you might need physio.

We lose strength & muscle elasticity as sure as day follows night if we don’t keep using our bodies.  Sitting too much causes both chronic tightness and serious weakness where we need it most  ….  legs, hips, shoulders. Its a scary recipe for physical decay disaster.

If we do nothing, we end up being able to do only nothing.

Did you know that a healthy skeleton, would just lie flat on the floor. How does your body feel if you try lying like that? 

If your body’s not doing what you want, starting right now, fit fitness into your day …

  • Stand up from your chair using your legs, not your hands.
  • Walk often, daily – more than 15mins
  • Carry your own shopping
  • Move morning, afternoon, evening
  • Stretch frequently.

 Tell your friends and walk your talk.

Don’t look at a frightening future.  Make a change!
