In my 32 years of working as a Personal Trainer for fabulous, confident, mature, busy women in both N Wales and Shropshire, I’ve seen more than a few misunderstandings about weight loss. Here’s a Holy Trinity of Horrors that will keep you overweight, frumpy, lethargic and unfulfilled forever if you don’t fix them:
1: Playing It Safe. Being afraid to stop dieting and counting calories and start eating, and so sinking into the woeful world of having a wonderful wardrobe full of lovely clothes which don’t fit, whilst declaring to your equally frustrated friends that you really must lose weight. If this is you, and you’ve made literally no progress in ages, then be prepared to wait a long long time for the scales to move.
MAKE A CHANGE!
2: Trash Talking. OK, so you’ve experienced some horrors. You’ve joined gyms and paid £295 for one swim. You had a PT who got you injured. You lost 5 stone and put it all back on again. You’ve spent a fortune on Weight Watchers and Slimming World. So now you say you simply cannot lose weight or get fitter.
What?
I’d say, all you know is what hasn’t worked for you up to now.
SO MAKE A CHANGE!
3: Eating Mindlessly. You don’t need a Masters Degree in Nutrition but you do need to know what’s healthy. With free apps like Yuka, there’s no excuse for not counting chemicals and putting convenience food (and drink) into your mouth.
Its your mouth. Your hand. And your life.
Beware the Bin above the Chin.
SUMMARY
Once you learn to avoid this stuff, you’ve got a sound foundation to re-ignite your weight loss mojo.
Then you can wake up your brain’s confidence and self-belief, feel how feeding yourself beautifully puts you back in control, and recreate your perfect positivity.
