Are you UNLOCK READY? Yeah, we are all hugely looking forward to the end of Lockdown. But it’s taken its toll in so many ways on so many of us.
Have you struggled with poor mental health during Lockdown? If your self-esteem is on the floor, how will you manage to return to work, go out to shops, and meet people in pubs?
Are you one of the many who now have the “Lockdown Stone”; you gained weight in the last year as a direct result of the pandemic. Gyms and classes are closed. Weather bad and days are dark, so some folks have been making excuses not to walk, cycle, run. People have been sitting more, watching more telly, eating comfort foods through Winter.
How about your clothes? Loads of us are living in stretchy, comfy clothes now. The ones with expandable waistlines. Do your work clothes still fit? How do you feel in them now?
How about your reflection? How do you feel about yourself when you look in the mirror? Is there an inner voice shouting if you’ve somehow “failed” in some way, and it’s all your fault (it never is your fault, by the way)?
And your energy? Do you feel you have the fitness to return to work and resume the juggling act that many of us used to operate daily with the demands of home, family, elderly parents, children, schooling, money issues, pets, cooking … and even working.
- Identify the PROBLEM – is it weight, mindset, energy? This sounds like a minor thing. But unless you know exactly what you want to change, you will be working blind.
- Now identify the EMOTION – how does this problem make you feel? Hooking into this gives you the reason why. It’s the key to your Motivation.
- Next, decide WHEN you’re going to start. And WHEN you’re going to assess your progress. This makes you accountable to yourself.
- Get SUPPORT. Tell others. Ask for help if you cant fix the problem yourself. Humans are social creatures – we are stronger with group input.
- Then DO IT!
