I was trying to balance here. Trying to do a High Side Plank. I failed.
A nanosecond after this was taken my rump hit the floor and my legs both shot up in the air.

What happens when you try to do it?
We work on balance often in On Demand Workouts with Noelle.
Balance strengthens muscles and joints, especially those really important ones which hold us up.
Regular balances also provide MENTAL FOCUS. Wobbling when you take yourself out of your usual physical comfort zone, makes you think about exactly what you’re doing … and why.
Practicing a balance can just give you that tiny bit of You Time that you might not realise that you really need … . But that bit of focus on you, even if only for a few seconds, might make a difference to your sanity in a busy world.
And, like any physical Challenge, its GREAT when you can finally do it.
Being able to balance your time and your body is a lovely “Non Scale Victory”. Its a vital part of improving your physical and emotional heath and wellness. Practice makes perfect with balance!
Here’s one for you.
BALANCE EXERCISE to try now
- Cross left leg behind the right. Have your feet as close together as you can.
- Lift your left arm up and over your head, getting it as close to your ear as possible.
- Stretch your right arm down your right thigh – think one shoulder up and one shoulder down.
- If you can, lean over to the right. Keep your chest facing forwards.
- Then try the other side.
- ** Keep the weight in BOTH FEET all the time.
Use it or LOSE IT!
Being physically able to balance really is a use it or lose it thing.
As we age, we lose the ability to balance if we don’t keep trying. Then maybe 10 years goes past, and you find that you just can’t balance easily any more. And ultimately that can make you vulnerable to falls and accidents.
ALL of that can be improved with regular exercise of the right sort.
